While the Green Bay Packers are coming off another divisional heart breaker, they’re still 11-5 and on the brink of another playoff berth. Jordan Love and company will likely hit the road to take on the Los Angeles Rams or Philadelphia Eagles in the wild card round depending on what happens in wee 18.
Regardless of the opponent, however, head coach Matt LaFleur has one mind set.
Green Bay Packers HC Matt LaFleur Give 3 Words For The Rest Of The Seaon (Report)
According to Senior Packers writer Wes Hodkiewicz:
“Win every game.”
Jalen Nailor’s 31-yard touchdown pass from Sam Darnold was one of several big plays allowed by the Packers’ injury-riddled secondary. After losing Zayne Anderson early on, it’s hard to blame a team that is missing Jaire Alexander and Evan Williams.
It was the Packers’ pass rush, which again failed in a big game, that raised the most concern:
“You’ve got to get pressure on these guys if they’re going to drop back this many times. If you don’t, it’s going to be a long day,” said LaFleur, via Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
That’s exactly what happened. Green Bay made only one sack in the game, which resulted from great coverage, but Darnold routinely had all day to throw. A perfect example was Jordan Addison’s 18-yard touchdown catch, where he had time to use a double move to beat Javon Bullard in coverage.
On the other side of the field, Jordan Love was under consistent pressure, especially in the second half when the Packers became one-dimensional. Love took three sacks and eight hits.
Green Bay will host the Chicago Bears in the regular season finale. Here is a look at LaFleur’s coaching record so far:
