The Green Bay Packers could look at the NFC West to get a bona fide WR1 for quarterback Jordan Love to give themselves a better chance of making a deep playoff run next season.
FanSided’s Freddie Boston came up with the idea of trading for DK Metcalf in exchange for Romeo Doubs and a fourth-round pick to give Green Bay a difference-maker on offense and to help Seattle fix their complex salary cap situation.
“Seattle must fix a salary-cap mess before the start of the new league year. According to Over The Cap, it must clear $27.5 million to get back to zero,” Boston wrote in his column. last Saturday “Trading or releasing Metcalf, who only has one year remaining on his contract, would free up almost $11 million of that figure.”
“The Packers add a difference-maker on offense. Metcalf would become a consistent, go-to target for Love while giving them another way to stretch defenses vertically with Christian Watson sidelined for much of the year.”
Should the Green Bay Packers go after DK Metcalf?
DK Metcalf is fresh from another strong season with the Seattle Seahawks, notching 66 catches for 992 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 15 regular season appearances.
He turned 27 last December, so he is entering his prime years. Metcalf is entering the final year of his three-year, $72 million contract in 2025.
If the Green Bay Packers acquire Metcalf and make a deep postseason run with him next season, maybe the team can convince him to prolong his stay by signing a new extension.
