Mason Crosby is no longer the kicker for the Green Bay Packers. The team drafted Anders Carlson in the sixth round of the NFL Draft and is sticking by him despite his struggles. Where does that leave Mason Crosby? Crosby struggled with his leg strength in comparison to his past seasons, but he has been active on social media showcasing his leg. It seems like he’s still interested in playing and recently commented on concerns about his strength in 2022.

Mason Crosby has served as the Green Bay Packers kicker since 2007. He has been very reliable in that stretch, but in 2022 fans saw his distance on kicks decline. He made just one kick from more than 50 yards and made an overall 86.2% of his kicks. Crosby even seemed to struggle to drive the ball on kickoffs. However, Crosby commented on a reply to one of his posts regarding his leg strength. The comment stated that there was a reason teams were not calling, and Crosby’s leg will not get stronger at his current age.
“False on it not being stronger this year,” Crosby said in a comment on X, formerly known as Twitter. “[I] had surgery in July last year and battled it all season.”
Crosby has shown videos of him working on his game, even hitting kicks from 60 yards. Battling surgery would explain Crosby’s struggle with distance in 2022. However, Brian Gutekunst has stated multiple times that the Green Bay Packers will stick with Carlson and will only pursue a veteran as a result of injury.
