The Green Bay Packers wide receiver room will undergo some change this offseason. During the offseason last year, there was a ton of optimism about the position.

With things playing out lately, they still do not have a true number-one wide receiver on the roster. Christian Watson may not play at all during the 2025 season. Romeo Doubs could be traded this offseason. Bo Melton may not be re-signed this offseason. Also, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Malik Heath might be the only wide receivers on the Packers roster to return next season.
Pro Football Network Has the Green Bay Packers Selecting Maryland Terrapins Wide Receiver Kaden Prather In the Third Round

Pro Football Network will be going through a seven-round mock draft constantly leading up to the 2025 NFL Mock Draft. The Green Bay Packers would be selecting 87th overall in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. With that selection, they have Green Bay selecting Maryland Terrapins wide receiver Kaden Prather. The Pro Football Network said:
“Kaden Prather is another prospect flying under the radar in this class. His size, speed, and fluidity were too much for many cornerbacks to keep up with. He could emerge as a top target in the Packers loaded receiver room.”
Prather is 6’3″ and weighs 210 lbs. Last season with the Maryland Terrapins, he caught 56 passes for 624 yards receiving and four touchdowns, along with averaging 11.1 yards per reception. Kaden Prather did not go over 1,000 yards receiving in any of his four seasons at the college football level.
Prather was on a Maryland football team that went 4-8 this past season. He is a prospect who could climb up draft boards depending on how he does during the NFL scouting combine later this week.
Josh Jacobs Spoke Out About Wide Receivers

Earlier this offseason, Josh Jacobs spoke out about what the Green Bay Packers need to do this offseason at the wide receiver position. Jacobs mentioned that they need to get someone proven at the position. They are out on the Tee Higgins sweepstakes because the Cincinnati Bengals will franchise-tag him.
The Packers will have to look elsewhere for a veteran wide receiver who is already the number one wide receiver for quarterback Jordan Love. However, if they can’t find that, they are going to have to bank on the draft once again to find somebody.
Taking Kaden Prather in the third round could be a risk in trying to find a number-one wide receiver. It would be preferable for Green Bay to draft one in the second round rather than waiting until the third round and drafting one. NFLdraftbuzz.com said about Prather’s strengths:
“Plus-sized target with NFL-ready frame, presenting mismatch potential against smaller DBs and displays advanced body control and high-point ability, excelling in contested catch situations.”
“Lacks elite top-end speed, may struggle to consistently separate from corners at the next level and could improve play strength to better utilize size advantage in press coverage.”
The Green Bay Packers need to find a number one wide receiver and not another number two wide receiver. If Kaden Prather does not have the potential to be a number-one wide receiver, Green Bay should pass on him and find someone else for the position. Prather being with the Maryland Terrapins in college football might be a hard sell for some NFL teams.
