“In A Blockbuster Swap”: Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks Predicted To Make Blockbuster Trade This Offseason

The Milwaukee Bucks this season have a 32-24 record in the Eastern Conference and they are the number five seed. As for the New York Knicks, they have a 37-20 record in the Eastern Conference and they are the number three seed.

The biggest issue for both teams this season has been trying to solve the Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Boston and Cleveland are the two best teams in the Eastern Conference by a mile. If they both meet in the Eastern Conference Finals this season, will the Knicks and Bucks look to make a major shakeup this offseason? It remains to be seen how it will play out.

The Bucks and the Knicks might look to make a move this offseason for different reasons. There is a chance that if Milwaukee does not get past the first round again this season, Some analysts think that Giannis Antetokounmpo may want to be traded elsewhere, even though he has constantly mentioned he doesn’t want to go anywhere.

Fadeawayworld.net writer Ishaan Bhattacharya created a mock blockbuster trade between the New York Knicks and the Milwaukee Bucks. He has Milwaukee trading away Giannis Antetokounmpo, Pat Connaughton, and Tyler Smith to New York for Karl-Anthony Towns, Precious Achiuwa, Miles McBride, 2025 first-round pick (WSH), and a 2030 first-round pick swap (NYK). There is no doubt that this trade would shake up the entire NBA landscape. Bhattacharya said:

“This deal sends Giannis to the Knicks while sending Karl-Anthony Towns to the Bucks in a blockbuster swap. The Bucks can remain competitive by pivoting to a better-rounded core including gets like McBride and Achiuwa, while the Knicks add Giannis as the final piece to push them to a championship.

The Knicks have already shown they can be a competitive group, but if they fail to win a title with their current core, it’ll be hard for them to pass up the opportunity to land Giannis if he is available. This is presumed to be a scenario where both the Bucks and Knicks underperform in the playoffs and potentially are victims of early exits.

Giannis is averaging 31.5 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 5.8 assists this season. He would be a dream fit into the Knicks’ aggressive defensive system as the perfect final addition to Tom Thibodeau’s system.

He would be an imposing do-it-all defender while being a consistently reliable downhill offensive option. His on-ball playmaking chops could help the team while a Jalen Brunson and Giannis two-man game would be incredibly lethal.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo would be the best player on the New York Knicks and Jalen Brunson would then be the second-best player on the Knicks. Karl-Anthony Towns is a very good player and he is the second-best player on New York, but Antetokounmpo is a Top-5 player in the league compared to Towns.

The Milwaukee Bucks would then focus on building a team around Karl-Anthony Towns. Towns is 29 years old. This season, he is averaging 24.8 PPG, 13.5 RPG, and 3.2 APG, along with shooting 53.2% from the field.

Trading Damian Lillard Could Also Happen

If the Milwaukee Bucks would trade Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason it would mean that Lillard would also be traded. Antetokounmpo and Lillard both have a year or more remaining on their contracts. Damian Lillard is due for a contract extension this offseason.

It would not make sense for the Bucks to give him an extension if Antetokounmpo was traded. The New York Knicks getting a Top-5 star player would mean that they would get closer to being title contenders with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics. However, the Milwaukee Bucks fanbase is going to get tired of these rumors and the odds of these trades happening seem very slim.
