Green Bay Packers Land 2022 Star From The Los Angeles Chargers In Proposed Deal

The Green Bay Packers are looking to continue their aerial assault going into 2023.  Over the last 31 years, the Packers have had Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers under center.  This has resulted in a consistent threat through the air.  They are hoping that Jordan Love can continue that trend going forward.  Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Luke Musgrave, Tucker Kraft, and Aaron Jones out of the backfield is a great young nucleus to build off of.  However, the Packers reportedly could add one more.

Los Angeles Chargers Rumored To Be Shopping Young Wide Receiver Joshua Palmer

Matt Holder of Bleacher Report suggested that Joshua Palmer’s success last season may not be enough to hold onto him as Los Angeles’ receiver room gets more crowded in 2023:

Statistically, Joshua Palmer enjoyed a breakout campaign last season. He hauled in 72 catches for 769 yards and three touchdowns, but that could be a bit of fool’s gold. The 23-year-old put up those numbers while ranking second behind Austin Ekeler for the most targets on the Los Angeles Chargers with 107.

The primary reason for that was because the team’s top two wide receivers—Keenan Allen and Mike Williams—missed 11 games between them. Los Angeles would be wise to strike while the iron is hot and see what it can get for the Tennessee product. Even though he won’t be a free agent for two more seasons, his trade value is likely higher now than it will be in the offseason.

Palmer was selected by the Los Angeles Chargers in the third round (77th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft.  Though eligible and ranked as the #1 Canadian prospect, he was not selected in the subsequent 2021 CFL Draft.  Palmer signed his four-year rookie contract with the Chargers on July 23, 2021.

Convincing a team to trade away a third round pick just two years later might take some enticing.  If the Chargers are considering moving on from the young weapon, this is what our proposed deal would look like:

    Green Bay Packer Receive:

    • Wide Receiver Joshua Palmer

    Los Angeles Chargers Receive:

    • 2024 Third Round Draft Pick
    • 2024 Sixth Round Draft Pick

This trade allows the Packers to add a proven threat to their team while the Chargers get back what they spent on Palmer.  Through 2 seasons Palmer has recorded 105 receptions, 1,122 yards, and 7 touchdowns.  Palmer is currently being projected as the Chargers’ number four wide receiver on the depth chart, however, he could easily fight for second or third on the Packers’.  This trade could be a win-win for both sides.
