The Green Bay Packers handed Jordan Love the keys to the franchise last year and he did not disappoint. The Packers got off to a rocky start to the 2023 campaign, however, the latter half of the season proved to be one to remember.
The Packers went 7-3 in their final 10 games, which included a massive win over the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs.
As Love prepares for his second full season under center, he may be getting some exciting news very soon.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Gets Exciting News From One Report
According to Suzanne Halliburton of On3 Sports:
Jordan Love owns one year of experience as the Packers starting quarterback. He got Green Bay into the playoffs the final weekend of the regular season. Then he helped engineer a big road victory over the Cowboys.
To think, the Packers may make Love the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history within the next three weeks.
Why? It’s all about timing. That’s according to Matt Schneidman, who covers the Packers for The Athletic. Schneidman explained his reasoning:
“This could be the next big quarterback domino to fall after Trevor Lawrence recently tied Joe Burrow for the highest average annual salary in the sport. Love could become the highest-paid player in NFL history by that metric, if only because of where the market is and what the Packers and his representation project him to become over the next few years.
(And) “Love is entering a contract year, and general manager Brian Gutekunst told local radio station The Game that he wants to get a deal done before training camp opens July 22. Love also said that based on what he’s heard, he’s optimistic a deal could get done before then, too. This isn’t a matter of if a deal gets done but of when and for how much.“
The NFL quarterback market is as hot as ever. Receiver contracts that are absolutely soaring. Joe Burrow signed a $55 million contract a year ago, bettering Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts, and Lamar Jackson.
In late summer, Lawrence and the Jaguars agreed to match the $55 million, although Lawrence will not receive his money until after 2025. As for Jared Goff, the Lions signed him to a $53 million contract that will place him behind Burrow and Lawrence, but ahead of the quarterbacks who signed last year.
It will be interesting to see Love’s next contract and when it will go down.
