With the Green Bay Packers season in the rearview mirror, it’s time to take a look toward the future and one of the players that has a very bright future with this franchise is rookie wide receiver Jayden Reed. Reed was definitely the Packers’ top rookie in 2023 and a lot of other rookies contributed, but he was the one that stood out.
Jayden Reed was a second-round selection from Michigan State. He is a do-it-all-all wide receiver for the Packers. Reed finished the season with 64 receptions for 793 yards receiving and eight touchdowns. He also was targeted 94 times this season by quarterback Jordan Love and averaged 12.4 yards per reception.
Reed also had 11 carries for 119 yards rushing and two touchdowns and averaged 10.8 yards per carry. He could be used a little bit more in the run game as time goes on, but he has the potential to go over 1,000 yards receiving in his second season as long as he can stay healthy.
Reed only had one 100-yard receiving game this season and that was in Week 18 against the Chicago Bears with four receptions for 112 yards receiving.
Jayden Reed Enters 2024 As the Green Bay Packers Number One Wide Receiver
Reed is going to enter the 2024 season for Green Bay as the number-one wide receiver. He finished the season with the most receiving yards on the team and a lot of people thought Christian Watson was going to earn that title, but he was injured too much with his hamstring injury. Watson can still be the top guy next season if he gets it together.
Romeo Doubs will be a huge part of the receiving game also. Dontayvion Wicks will be a nice fourth wide receiver to have on the roster and he also has tons of potential and was only a rookie this season as well. Jayden Reed may have the highest ceiling of the four wide receivers on this roster.
Packers fans would agree that Reed was the best rookie on the team this season. He needs to prove his worth once again in the second year also.
