Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Jayden Reed was ranked as the fourth-best rookie on PFF in Week 2 for the 2023 NFL regular season with a grade of 82.9. This was ranked based on rookies playing at least 25 snaps during the games last week.
Reed has been the number two wide receiver on the roster for the first two games because of a hamstring injury to Christian Watson. Jayden Reed last week had four catches for 37 yards receiving and two touchdowns. He averaged 9.2 yards per reception. Reed had touchdown receptions of nine yards and 10 yards last week.
What was fascinating is that he was ranked ahead of Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, who had a grade of 81.0, according to PFF. He had an amazing game against the San Francisco 49ers with 15 receptions for 147 yards receiving and zero touchdowns. He averaged 9.8 yards per reception in that contest as well.
The other three rookies that were ranked ahead of Green Bay Packers rookie wide Jayden Reed on PFF last week were Minnesota Vikings linebacker Ivan Pace Jr. (86.3 PFF grade), Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson (88.2 PFF grade), and New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzales (90.9 PFF grade).
Reed will look to continue to make an impact for the Green Bay Packers in week 3 in their home opener against the New Orleans Saints (2-0).
Jayden Reed Will Need To Continue To Play a Huge Role in the Green Bay Packers’ Offense
Reed could very well be the second receiving option for the Packers once again this weekend. He is being used in many different ways. Jayden Reed is being jet-motioned on some plays and maybe he will even get some jet-sweep handoffs at some point during the season.
If Romeo Doubs ever gets injured with Watson being sidelined currently, he could step into the number-one receiver role. The more reps he gets, the better off he is going to be in the long run for this offense. It is still a young football team that is still growing up. Jayden Reed is being trusted by quarterback Jordan Love in the offense.
At some point, Reed will become the consistent slot receiver whenever they can get Romeo Doubs and Christain Watson on the field at the same time. Jayden Reed will continue to grow during his rookie season as a second-round pick out of Michigan State.
