Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has received his fair share of criticism this season from the fanbase. Green Bay is 6-8 on the season and is on the outside looking in of the playoff picture. The Packers could be in danger of missing the postseason for the second consecutive season.
One of the reasons why the Packers could miss the playoffs for the second consecutive season is because of defensive coordinator Joe Barry. LaFleur decided not to fire Barry and has decided to keep him for the rest of the season. A lot of people believe that this could be Matt LaFleur’s downfall.
The fanbase was not happy at all when they heard about this. LaFleur has done a nice job of developing quarterback Jordan Love this season but when it comes to the defensive side of the ball, it is a problem. It would be possible that the Packers would not fire LaFleur after this season but if things don’t go well again next season, then that’s a discussion to be had.
LaFleur has lost two straight games in the month of December after going 16-0 in the month of December to start out as head coach. They are in must-win territory against the 2-12 Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon. If they don’t beat Carolina, there will be many fans calling for LaFleur’s job as head coach.
Green Bay Packers Fans React to Matt LaFleur Not Firing Joe Barry on Monday
The Packers fanbase had some interesting things to say on Twitter about Matt LaFleur’s defense for defensive coordinator Joe Barry:
Matt LaFleur throwing all his players under the bus for Aaron Rodgers in 2022 was hard to watch but at least you could do some mental gymnastics and understand the reason for WHY he would do it.
LaFleur throwing his players under the bus for Joe Barry is f***ing absurd.

I wish someone fought for me the way Matt LaFleur fights for Joe Barry https://t.co/TtGoge3sUt

It is going to be interesting to see how the final three weeks of the regular season play out. If they win out, LaFleur’s job will be safe. But if they lost every game 35-34, his job should still be safe but Joe Barry should be shown the door. The only way LaFleur will be out of a job is if the front office thinks they should get rid of Barry and if LaFleur wants to keep him.
