The Green Bay Packers already have a bright looking future. Jordan Love led the Packers to (at least) the divisional round of the playoffs in his first year under center. Not only that, but Love finished the season with over 30 passing touchdowns, 4,000+ passing yards, and just 11 interceptions. A kind of season that most quarterbacks would love to have.
As the team continues to focus on the future, they could bring in a two-time NFL leading rusher as some veteran presence in their backfield.
The Green Bay Packers Could Land Former Dallas Cowboys Star For Veteran Presence According To One NFL Analyst
According to former star running back Maurice Jones-Drew, Elliot could fit well in Green Bay:
Elliott had the worst statistical campaign of his career in his first season outside of Dallas, but I largely chalk that up to playing in a lackluster Patriots offense that never found its identity with Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe under center.
Likely headed elsewhere with New England trending toward a major rebuild, the veteran could join a young Packers team on a low-end deal, with Green Bay’s bruiser back, AJ Dillon, headed for free agency himself.
Zeke would pair well with Aaron Jones, providing a physical element to the run game. Plus, Zeke’s a guy who could carry the load if Jones can’t stay healthy.
Would Green Bay Be Interested In Zeke?
The Packers are likely to move on from either Aaron Jones or AJ Dillon this off-season. After Jones has once again prove his value to this offense late in the season, many presume it will be Dillon who the team moves on from.
Either way, the 2024 draft has numerous talented running backs that should be available in the second and third rounds. If the Packers want to take a flier on a veteran running back like Zeke, draft a running back of the future, and keep Aaron Jones, it could work.
Green Bay isn’t likely to pay Dillon a second contract so the could even be saving money by going the veteran route (as long as Zeke is willing to take the veteran minimum). When Packers fans saw Zeke could possibly suit up for Green Bay, the reacted accordingly on Twitter (X).
