Ever since the Green Bay Packers lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs, fans have been pinpointing what positions the team needs to focus on in the offseason in terms of free agency and the draft.
With Christian Watson injured with a torn ACL with his 2025 season up in the air, and considering the lack of a true top-tier wide receiver on the roster, many have pointed to that position as one of dire need.
And one former Packers All-Pro seems to be hinting that he would love to come back and be that guy for Green Bay.
Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Davante Adams Hints He Wants to Return
During recent appearances on the “Up and Adams” podcast with Kay Adams, the three-time All-Pro wide receiver has hinted that he would be more than open to a return to the Packers should the New York Jets release him this offseason, as they are expected to do.
When discussing Green Bay’s wide receiver situation, Adams said:
“You gotta see what is up with Doubs and Christian [Watson]. Obviously, Romeo having a few plays this year where he ended up a little banged up and hit his head on the ground, so seeing where he is with that. And you never know, that’s the kind of situation where it could be a week or it can extend out longer than that.
“So we’ll see, I’m praying for him either way. But I just think it kind of depends on the health of the team. And it’s looking right now they might need some receiver help one way or the other just based on what they have available. Um, maybe a veteran or something in there, you know? We’ll see.”
These comments had fans responding to the show’s social media post with the video telling the former Packers star that he is welcome to come home.
Davante Adams Responds to Green Bay Packers Fans Showing Him Love
On the “Up and Adams” show today, Kay Adams read Davante some of the comments on the video. She told him that the comments showed he had a “99% approval rating from Packers fans.”
“Really?” the former Packers wide receiver responded.

She then asked him why Packers fans show that kind of love to former players whereas fans of other fanbases just, well, don’t.
“It’s special, it’s a special fanbase. I mean, just the Green Bay area alone, I don’t think I’ve ever received so much love from fans locally. Almost to the point where you start to see the same people because it’s such a small community.
“Yeah, I got a lot of love and I showed a lot of love, and I gave everything I had to that organization for almost a decade, so I could see why they would be happy.”
But he also understands that there are some fans that may not want him back.
“But you can also see where there are some situations where the fans might not because of me deciding that I wanted to be traded. So you can understand to a certain extent how they would feel on that as well.
“But at the end of the day, as long as people understand when people have to make certain moves in this league, it’s because you think that’s what’s best for you at the time and whether or not it works out is a totally different thing, but you got to make calculated decisions in this game.”
It sure sounds like he is admitting that it was a mistake to ask for a trade from the Packers, but at the same time he hopes fans understand that, at the time, he believed it was what was best for him.
