“Time to Come Home;” Green Bay Packers Fans React to Latest Davante Adams Comments Regarding Team Needs in 2025

Before the 2021 NFL season even began, Green Bay Packers stars Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams posted the same image on their Instagram accounts, that of Chicago Bulls legends Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen from the documentary “The Last Dance.”

The message of the post was clear: 2021 would be their final season together with the Packers. Adams was entering the final year of his contract and Rodgers, well, the selection of Jordan Love in 2020 NFL Draft had started the clock ticking on his time in Green Bay as well.

That 2021 season saw Rodgers with his fourth NFL MVP (and second in a row) while Adams set franchise records for receptions (123) and receiving yards (1,553). He also had 11 receiving touchdowns.

After the season, Green Bay franchise tagged Adams, who then requested a trade. Since then, he has played for the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets. While he is still under contract, it is highly probable that he gets released this offseason, and it sure sounds like he is aching to come home.

Davante Adams Discusses What the Green Bay Packers Need in 2025

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams (17) hauls in a pass during third quarter of the Green Bay Packers game against the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field in Green Bay on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021. The Packers won 35-17.

Adams is a frequent guest on the podcast “Up and Adams,” hosted by Kay Adams (no relation). It was during a recent appearance on her show that the three-time All-Pro revealed that he would “never rule out” returning to any of his former teams should he be a free agent again. Of course, he would be getting cut by the Jets, and he already forced his way out of Las Vegas, so that comment was clearly directed at Green Bay.

On today’s show, Adams asked the six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver what he thinks the Packers need to take the next step in 2025.

What do the #Packers NEED to focus on this offseason???

“If I had to say, if I had to try to pinpoint something, I think that the Packers obviously, it depends on the health of the team coming into the beginning of next season. I think that if Josh [Myers] is banged up, they’re going to need to do something about that.”

Myers, by the way, is a free agent, or will be at the start of the new league year, and revealed today that he avoided a major leg injury in Green Bay’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Adams, probably not aware of this, continued, “You gotta see what is up with Doubs and Christian [Watson]. Obviously, Romeo having a few plays this year where he ended up a little banged up and hit his head on the ground, so seeing where he is with that. And you never know, that’s the kind of situation where it could be a week or it can extend out longer than that.

“So we’ll see, I’m praying for him either way. But I just think it kind of depends on the health of the team. And it’s looking right now they might need some receiver help one way or the other just based on what they have available. Um, maybe a veteran or something in there, you know? We’ll see.”

Adams, of course, is a veteran wide receiver who may be available soon and knows the Packers system.

Green Bay Packers Fans Just Want Davante Adams to Come Home

After Adams’ comments were posted on social media, Packers fans all had a similar reaction: bring him home!

Ok this is just silly already.

Wanting Davante back isn’t some superfan pipe dream.

It would actually make a ton of sense.

This team doesn’t need another draft and develop WR. They need a guy who can be WR1 on day 1.

That’s Davante. Get it done. https://t.co/2fA9B0Gmwn

As mentioned, Adams is still under contract with New York, so he cannot negotiate with any other teams. However, the Jets can save tens of millions of dollars on their salary cap by cutting him, which seems likely as they are stuck in a never-ending rebuild.

Adams back to Green Bay just may be a possibility.
