Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson did not record a single catch in the Packers 31-29 loss against the Minnesota Vikings. In the first half, Jordan Love threw a pass intended for Watson, and Love was intercepted. In the same play, the former North Dakota State wide receiver was injured.
He had to be carted off the field with an ankle injury and did not return to the game. Watson missed time with hamstring issues a season ago.
NFL Network Ian Rapoport Reveals That Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Christian Watson Could Land On Injured Reserve
On Monday morning, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the Packers star wide receiver has no fracture for his ankle, but he has a high-ankle sprain that could land him on injured reserve. This is not good that Watson has to miss time at all this season in his third year.
So far this season, he has caught five passes for 80 yards receiving and one touchdown, along with averaging 16.0 yards per catch. The good news is that his injury is not season-ending but once he returns from injury, it might be hard for Watson to get his spot back.
Time For Dontayvion Wicks To Shine
There were times on Sunday when wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks had crucial drops for the Green Bay Packers. Now with Christian Watson out for the foreseeable future, it is time for Wicks to make an impact in this offense because of his potential with the team.
Dontayvion Wicks did catch five passes for 78 yards receiving and two touchdowns against the Vikings. He had a six-yard touchdown reception and a 17-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter for the Packers. Jordan Love had great chemistry a season ago with Wicks. Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and Romeo Doubs will be the receiving core with Watson sidelined.
