One of the Green Bay Packers needs in the 2024 NFL Draft will be running back and one of the running backs they could potentially target is Wisconsin Badgers running back Braelon Allen. It would make a ton of sense for the Packers to draft because they need help at the position and they have probably scouted him many times this season.
Throughout the course of the college football season, Allen rushed for 984 yards on 181 carries and 12 touchdowns and averaged 5.4 yards per carry. He also caught 28 passes for 131 yards receiving and zero touchdowns and averaged 4.7 yards per reception.
AJ Dillon will be a free agent at the end of the season and Green Bay will have to make a decision about Aaron Jones’s contract because of his injuries this season. He will have one more year left on his deal, but they may move off of him entirely.
Braelon Allen has a third-round 2024 NFL Draft grade according to Bleacher Report. Bleacher Report offensive skill position scout Derrik Klassen said:
“Allen is a throwback to a different time in football. Allen is all of 6’2″, 245 pounds and he runs like it. He’s a hammer between the tackles, and it’s not easy to bring him down with just one tackler unless you chop him down at the ankles like a massive tree. Allen is nimbler than he looks, too. He isn’t going to shake anyone out of their shoes, but he’s rather graceful navigating behind the line of scrimmage. Allen still needs to iron out some of his work on passing downs, but he’s such a young player with rushing potential worth investing in.”
The Green Bay Packers Drafting Wisconsin Badgers Running Back Braelon Allen Would Be Very Good For Them in the 2024 NFL Draft
Allen would be able to contribute right away in the NFL if the Packers draft him in 2024. They are going through a youth movement and that is something they did at the quarterback, wide receiver, and tight end positions this season. It is going to pay off for them in the long run and they should do the same at running back.
General manager Brian Gutekunst should move off of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon in the backfield and start all over at that position. They will have five selections in the first three rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft. Having Patrick Taylor as the starting running back in 2024 is not the answer either for them.
Braelon Allen would be able to be the second running back or the lead running back right away. He probably won’t be the only running back selected for the Green Bay Packers in the 2024 NFL Draft. They will probably select at least two of them or maybe more because they need them.
