The Green Bay Packers are looking to get back on top of the NFC North in 2024. Their last division banner was in 2021. That was the third straight year they had taken the division (2019-2021).
Jordan Love, the young group of weapons surrounding him, and the completely revamped defense has given the Packers an incredible amount of confidence going forward.
However, one NFC North Rival player was actually hoping he’d be drafted by Green Bay.
One Green Bay Packers Rival Wished He Was Drafted By Green Bay
The Packers have made a name for themselves for finding late-round gems in the NFL Draft. However, one player who got away from them initially wished he would’ve been drafted by the green and gold. Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions.
St. Brown was selected by the Lions in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. This was the franchise’s best pick in years. Nevertheless, St. Brown recently admitted he hoped he would end up in Green Bay.
“When it got to Day 3, I was already mad,” St. Brown told ESPN’s Eric Woodyard. “I even told my brother [Equanimeous], ‘If there’s one team I don’t want to go to, that’s the Lions. Just, please, I don’t want to go to the Lions.’ [My brother] was on the Packers at the time and I was like, ‘I want to play with him.’”
The Packers Have A Great Future With Their Wide Receiving Group
Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks have provided this team with a ton of optimism going forward. Even Bo Melton, Luke Musgrave, and Tucker Kraft have contributed to the passing attack in significant ways.
In his first season Love threw for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and had a 64.2 completion percentage. He also added 247 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
The young group will only look to grow for years to come. The Bears likely got significantly better during the 2024 NFL Draft. The Vikings hope to have drafted their quarterback of the future. It will be interesting to see how the NFC North looks years from now.
