Last season, the Green Bay Packers sent Jaire Alexander and Elgton Jenkins to the Pro Bowl. Alexander was the team’s lone All-Pro selection, earning second team honors for the second year in a row.
There are a great deal of questions surrounding the 2023 Packers team, but it cannot be denied that the team already has several players who have been named to the Pro Bowl or All Pro teams. Despite the transition to quarterback, and perhaps even because of it, some of these players will be able to shine more brightly and earn some postseason honors.
Green Bay Packers Players Who Will Be All-Pro’s in 2023
As mentioned, Jaire Alexander was the only Packers player who was named to an All Pro team last season. In 2021, Davante Adams, Aaron Rodgers, and De’Vondre Campbell were First Team All Pro’s. Of course, Adams and Rodgers are gone while Campbell still remains. However, I believe some others will be named to an All Pro team in 2023.
Jaire Alexander
Alexander has been a Second Team All Pro twice in his career. My big prediction for this season is that he will finally crack the First Team. Numerous media outlets have ranked Alexander in the top five of NFL cornerbacks. As he begins his $84 million contract, expect his play to reflect his status as one of the NFL’s highest paid corners.
Last season, he had a career-high five interceptions. His 14 pass breakups were the second-most in his career. As he enters his prime, those numbers will all go up.
David Bakhtiari
David Bakhtiari recently spoke on how good his knee is healing after a long road to recovery following a torn ACL. Prior to the injury, he made three Pro Bowls, three Second Team All Pro’s, and two First Team All Pro’s. The last time he was a First Team All Pro was 2020, the last season he was healthy.
With his knee healed, Bakhtiari is sure to return to All Pro status. Last season, he was the 12th highest graded tackle in the NFL per PFF. He will only be better (and play more games) in 2023.
Elgton Jenkins
Elgton Jenkins is a two-time Pro Bowl selection and will make the leap to All-Pro in 2023. One of the things that will help his case this year is his entrenchment at left guard. In previous seasons, Jenkins has been forced to play multiple positions on the offensive line due to injuries.
Being in one position all year will only help All Pro voters see how dominant of a left guard he is.
Green Bay Packers Players Who Will Be First-Time Pro Bowl Players
Before getting into which players that have already been Pro Bowlers that will make it again, let’s highlight some players that could be first-time selections this season.
Christian Watson
Last season, Christian Watson had a better rookie season than any rookie wide receiver ever with Rodgers as quarterback. Indeed, his 41 receptions, 611 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns (nine total) were the most by a Packers rookie in quite some time.
Of course, Watson missed a great deal of the preseason last year due to a procedure on his knee. Rodgers also did not show up to any activities to build chemistry with his wide receivers until training camp.
With a full offseason under his belt and a quarterback with whom he meshes, expect Watson to put up some big numbers in 2023. Big enough to garner a Pro Bowl selection.
Quay Walker
Quay Walker has been working this offseason on strategies to keep his cool, which will keep him from being ejected from games. Despite these incidents, Walker still had a strong rookie campaign.
He ended 2022 with 121 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, five tackles for loss, and seven pass deflections. The area he really needs to improve in, along with the rest of the Packers’ defense, is in the run game.
If Walker makes a jump in his abilities to defend the run, and there is no reason to think he won’t, he will be one of the most feared linebackers in the NFL.
Green Bay Packers Who Will Return to the Pro Bowl
In addition to the All-Pro’s listed above, two other Packers players will make returns to the Pro Bowl in 2023.
Aaron Jones
Aaron Jones has only made one Pro Bowl in his career, but he is certainly due for another appearance. Jones ran for a career-high 1,121 yards last year despite getting 15+ carries in just five games. With Rodgers gone, his attempts in the redzone, and therefore his touchdown numbers, will increase.
Kenny Clark
Clark’s selection here is really due to the optimism that the Packers finally have someone alongside him that will free Clark up to do what he does best: create an interior pass rush. Devonte Wyatt will play well enough that Clark will not be double-teamed as much, and therefore will increase his production.
He has already been to two Pro Bowls; expect a third in 2023.
