Yesterday, former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers became an NFL free agent for the first time in his career. Of course, he never reached free agency as a member of the Packers, instead signing extension after extension to remain with the team. After the 2022 NFL season, however, Green Bay traded him to the New York Jets.
Upon arriving in New York, Rodgers signed a three-year extension with the Jets with the hope that he would be able to remain there for the rest of his career.
As everyone knows, that did not happen. Following a 5-12 season, New York’s new head coach and general manager decided to go in a different direction at the quarterback position. They informed him that he would be released with a post-June 1 designation, which meant they had to wait until March 12 in order to make the decision official.
And they did.
For weeks, fans and analysts have speculated about where the four-time NFL MVP would play in 2025. While many teams were suggested as possible landing spaces, just three potential suitors remain.
Former Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Has Interest from the Giants, Vikings, and Steelers

When news broke that the Jets were going to release Rodgers, there was talk of him joining quarterback needy teams such as the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Rams (before they restructured Matthew Stafford), Tennessee Titans, and Cleveland Browns.
Over the course of the past week, though, three teams have emerged as serious contenders for the future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback: the New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Giants are an intriguing option because, as a team that shares a city with the Jets, Rodgers would not have to move/sell his property there. Minnesota, of course, is interesting for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that the former Packers quarterback would be following in Brett Favre’s footsteps if he signed with the Vikings. Additionally, Minnesota was 14-3 last year and boasts one of the best wide receiver duos in the NFL.
But the Steelers are also a very good landing spot for Rodgers as they also had a winning record last year, have a stout defense, and just traded for two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf.
The Pittsburgh Steelers Have Made a Contract Offer to Aaron Rodgers

Ironically, it is the Steelers whom Rodgers and the Packers beat the last time they won the Super Bowl. And now it appears that they are the franchise that is the most interested in him. So interested, in fact, that they have made him a contract offer.
Per Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Pittsburgh has an offer on the table for the former Packers quarterback, but he is taking his time in deciding on whether or not he will take it:
Apparently, the delay in the Aaron Rodgers discussion with the Steelers is not about money. The offer has been made. It’s about Rodgers taking his good ol’ time about making a decision.

It certainly seems like Rodgers wants to continue playing in 2025 and will not be retiring this offseason. It is also worth nothing that Green Bay plays each one of the three reported finalists for his services this year.
