Wisconsin Badgers center Serah Williams has entered the transfer portal, making her one of the most sought-after players in the coming weeks. This was not surprising in the slightest.

Williams averaged 19.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game this season. She is a junior from Brooklyn, New York.

Wisconsin’s Serah Williams shoots a jumper during a WNIT game at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin on Thursday March 28, 2024.

Serah has one of the most effective face-up games, whether Williams is attacking the rim or knocking down a contested mid-range jumper. Williams is also one of the top rim protectors in women’s college basketball.

Williams led the Badgers in scoring and rebounds this past season, earning All-Big Ten First Team honors.  She was the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2023-24.

She has one year of eligibility left and a strong likelihood of being selected in the first round of the 2026 draft. Wisconsin not only loses one of its top players in program history but also its most valuable asset in attracting a leading coaching candidate to Madison.
Six programs that could greatly benefit from landing Serah Williams are USC, Notre Dame, South Carolina, LSU, Tennessee, and Texas. Marisa Moseley stepped down as head coach at Wisconsin.
