The Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers went their separate ways this past off-season after 18 unforgettable seasons together. The four-time MVP quarterback announced he intended to play for the New York Jets in 2023, approximately a month later the trade happened.
When the 2023 season began, tragedy struck as Rodgers went down after just four offensive plays Into the season. Immediately following his injury diagnosis, Rodgers made it clear he had every intention of returning this season. However, that may no longer be the case.
Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Status Is In Doubt For The 2023 Season

Steve Serby of The New York Post highlighted why Rodgers’ return this season doesn’t make any sense:
With all due respect to Aaron Rodgers, your miracle comeback attempt is gallant and inspiring, but think long and hard about this:
Wait ’Til Next Year.
Because the team you desperately want to return to now has “Wait ‘Til Next Year” written all over it.
Robert Saleh, the sorry 32-6 loser, finally benched Zach Wilson and summoned Tim Boyle down 29-6 with 2:17 left in the third quarter.
Wilson (7-for-15, 81 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) left without completing a single pass to a wide receiver. Guilty as charged!
“We didn’t complete much passes to anybody,” he said.
Will Boyle (7-for-14, 33 yards, 1 INT) get the nod on Black Friday against the Dolphins?
“We’re gonna have to look at the tape, and we’ll make a decision,” Saleh said.
He might want to burn it instead.
Boyle quickly got Garrett Wilson on the board with a 4-yarder on his second attempt on third-and-5. He completed his third attempt to a pressing Wilson, who apparently was so shocked at receiving another ball that he had it stripped from him.
Does It Make Sense To Sit Rodgers The Rest Of The Year?

Rodgers has proven over the years that he is as tough as they come. However, it is pretty safe to say that a torn Achilles is the most severe injury he has sustained during his career. If he genuinely intends on playing multiple seasons for the Jets, it would be wise to save himself for next season.
Obviously, if the Jets go on a run and compete for a playoff berth, that could influence his decision. However, as of now the Jets appear to be headed toward their 13th consecutive season without a post-season appearance. As long as the Jets continue on this trend, saving Rodgers for next season makes all the sense in the world.

I love Aaron Rodgers and he comes from a different planet. However, he is getting older and he needs time to heal. Aaron, please sit out the rest of the season and heal. In Spring, the Jets are going to go shopping for the QB of the future, who will sit and learn behind you. So, it’s your responsibility to stay healthy and train the new, young stud to lead the Jets into the future. Once you have done that, you can retire to your lovely, beachfront mansion in California:)
