The Brewers took plenty of criticism from their own fans this offseason about their involvement in free agency. However, the production they have gotten from their rookies has led to a 5-1 start. Garrett Mitchell followed up his two-run home run night with a walk-off solo shot to complete a sweep of the New York Mets.
Garrett Mitchell’s Clutch Hit
Mitchell did not draw the start today but entered the game as a pinch hitter for Mike Brousseau in the 6th inning. After a shut down 9th inning by Devin Williams, Mitchell was leading off the bottom of the 9th. He found himself in a full count and delivered the Brewers’ first walk-off win of the year.

This was Garrett Mitchell’s second career walk-off hit. His first came against the Yankees last season. Mitchell got a Gatorade shower from Willy Adames, but he continued the fun in his post-game interview.

Garrett Mitchell Post Game
The Brewers have taken something from the Packers’ playbook this season. They have been passing the cheesehead around after home runs. The infinity gauntlet and bell seem to have been retired, but the team looks to be having just as much fun as ever. When asked about hoe much fun the team was having Garrett Mitchell just put on the cheesehead and embraced the crowd.
"When my wife doesn't show up to the games, usually something good happens. … She's not here, so might as well do something fun." @SophiaMinnaert met with #Brewers rookie @GarretMitchell5 after his first career walk-off home run against the Mets. #ThisIsMyCrew pic.twitter.com/zac4xFCQkL
