NFL insider Dan Graziano of ESPN is reporting the Las Vegas Raiders are considering releasing QB Derek Carr after the conclusion of the 2022 season. Carr has three years remaining on his contract, but a team-friendly option allowing Oakland to release Carr before February 15th, 2023. Former Green Bay Packer Davante Adams, who has roughly 116 million dollars remaining on his contract, would likely be on the trading block during the 2023 offseason.
ESPN's Dan Graziano reports the #Raiders could release QB Derek Carr after the season to avoid paying the final three years of his contract.
I would imagine this could even put Davante Adams back in play if it happens too. #RaiderNation

It’s common knowledge that Adams wanted to reunite with his former College QB Carr. I don’t see a scenario where Adams, who will be thirty in December, is satisfied playing on a rebuilding team. Could Adams reunite with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers? A reunion is doubtful. In 2023 Green Bay is projected to have just over four million dollars in cap space. More importantly, Aaron Rodgers will make just thirty-two million dollars in 2023. If Rodgers returns to Green Bay for another season it would be near impossible for the Packers to add Adams via trade. Financially the move doesn’t make sense. And, given the Packer’s inability to make a trade in 2022 to add receiving depth, it’s unlikely. I don’t see the Packers acquiring Davante Adams.
Darren Waller true target?
Darren Waller may be a more realistic option for the Packers. It’s a fact Green Bay has tried to trade for Waller twice in 2022, and his twelve million dollar cap hit in 2023 may be more manageable than Adams’ fifteen million in 2023 and then twenty-five million in 2024. Green Bay is already looking at tight ends in the 2023 NFL draft. Waller has been one of the most productive players at tight end. At thirty years old he would provide veteran leadership and stability. Immediately Waller would become the focal point of Green Bay’s offense and a Pro Bowl quality weapon for Rodgers.
