In an exclusive interview with Wisconsin Sports Heroics, Wisconsin native linebacker Jamal Booker reveals his ideal skill comparison.

Booker, a Waukesha native, is one of the fastest rising in-state 2027 recruits in part because of his recent camp success. Booker is a dominant linebacker on the field that can play inside or out, and has just begun to crack the surface of his potential. The 2027 recruit is already receiving plenty of interest from the Wisconsin football program, Miami (FL), Indiana, Northwestern, and NC State to name a few.

The Wisconsin football staff has searched the state high and low in previous classes to find the right guys for the program. During the 2027 cycle, however, Wisconsin football will not have to look far to find just the man they need on the team. 2027 inside linebacker Jamal Booker, a Waukesha native, has already generated quite a lot of buzz in the 2027 cycle, but has yet to pull in a major offer from some of the interested programs.

The Wisconsin football program has been someone who is interested, and a potential offer from them to Booker would be a dream come true in the eyes of the recruit. Booker stated when asked about what his dream offer would be, “Definitely the University of Wisconsin and the University of Miami (Florida) since I have been following these programs for awhile and they are both places I can see myself.”

Booker also went on to state in reference to the Wisconsin football program, “I love the atmosphere and the environment and they get linebackers to the league.”

While Booker feels he has not completely hit his stride on the football field yet, he stated that when he plays up to his potential he mimics Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons. Clearly, the recruit does not believe he is the next coming of Parsons, but admits that he loves to play the same aggressive, physical style of play.  When asked why he chose Parsons, Booker stated, “He is a versatile player that can produce wherever, and I know I would produce anywhere on the field.”

Booker plays with confidence and versatility, and along with those two aspects of his play he also uses his football intelligence. The linebacker instinctively reads plays before they occur much like a seasoned college starter would, which boasts well for his future at the position.

As versatile as Booker is, he feels his ultimate college home is going to stay at linebacker due to his size and knowledge of the position. Booker stated, “My sideline to sideline speed and coverage ability set me apart”, and the linebacker went on to acknowledge that he would be “undersized” for defensive end at the collegiate level.

Can the Wisconsin Football Staff Land Booker in the Future?

As a Wisconsin native, Booker admitted that a scholarship offer from the Wisconsin football staff would be a dream come true. However, the program has yet to put major attention into the 2027 class and thus Booker has not received his offer just yet.

The Wisconsin football staff is always on the hunt for linebackers that they feel would fit into their system perfectly. Already, the 2027 recruit is showing plenty of promise and could become a priority target for Wisconsin following this upcoming season.
