The Purdue Boilermakers were the sixth-ranked team in the country entering this game against the #15-ranked Marquette Golden Eagles. Purdue and Marquette were both 4-0 entering this matchup. The Boilermakers lost to the Golden Eagles 76-58 on the road.
This game was where Purdue was outplayed from the opening tip-off against Marquette. One of the biggest stories in this matchup was Kam Jones recording a triple-double. It was the third time in program history it happened. He scored 17 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and recorded 10 assists.

A lot of Boilermakers fans have no issue with head coach Matt Painter. It will be a long season for them, but they will no doubt be serious contenders in the BIG10 Conference once again.
Game Stats
Three players scored in double figures for the Purdue Boilermakers. Trey Kaufman-Renn scored 16 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and recorded three assists. Fletcher Loyer scored 13 points and Braden Smith scored 11 points, grabbed four rebounds, and recorded nine assists.
To go along with Kam Jones’s triple-double for the Marquette Golden Eagles, three other players scored in double digits for Marquette. Stevie Mitchell scored 21 points, grabbed two rebounds, and also recorded four steals. Chase Ross scored 12 points and Ben Gold also scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Head coach Shaka Smart has his team on the right track to be one of the top teams in college basketball this season. The Golden Eagles will be contenders in the Big East Conference this season. As for the Boilermakers, they will be fine as the season progresses.
