Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur made a strong statement about the team’s preparation after the team had to rule wide receiver Christian Watson out against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. LaFleur will have a headache trying to devise a game plan to compliment quarterback Jordan Love in his second-ever NFL start.
The Packers don’t have a veteran wide receiver for the contest. Watson was their best wide receiver heading into the season. But he’ll miss at least Week 1 with a hamstring injury.
Oh, and Romeo Doubs is questionable with a hamstring.

LaFleur talked about the Packers’ preparation this week, knowing the team was facing an uphill battle with wide receiver injuries. According to Ryan Wood with USA Today, LaFleur called Watson’s injury a “curveball” in the Packers plans. He said the Packers plan will remain almost the same, even with the injury:
“We had a whole week to prepare for this, LaFleur said. “So I wouldn’t say that alters the plan too drastically. Anytime you’re missing one of your better players, that throws a curveball a little bit. But it happens all the time.”

If the Packers aren’t scrambling because WR1 isn’t playing, that should tell you what the game plan is heading into Week 1 with an inexperienced receiving group.
Run, run, run.
One would expect the Packers to have a heavy offensive diet of Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. The Packers will hope that some solid running will open up the passing game for Love.
