The Carolina Panthers finished the season with a 5-12 record and showed a lot of progress with quarterback Bryce Young toward the end of the season. Carolina this offseason will be looking to get more offensive weapons around Young.
One potential team that might trade some wide receivers this offseason is the Green Bay Packers. Green Bay will have a choice of which wide receivers to keep and which ones to trade.
Sports Illustrated Writer Matthew Schmidt Thinks That the Carolina Panthers Should Call the Green Bay Packers About Romeo Doubs This Offseason
When the Packers season comes to an end, there will be some wide receivers on the roster who will be mentioned in trade rumors. Matt Schmidt of sportsillustrated.com thinks that the Carolina Panthers should call the Green Bay Packers about wide receiver Romeo Doubs this offseason.
Schmidt said about the Panthers potentially calling the Packers for Doubs:
“One potential avenue for Carolina to explore is dealing for Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs.
Doubs expressed frustration earlier in the season due to his diminishing role and actually skipped a couple of practices as a result.
While the young pass-catcher said he regretted his actions, it doesn’t change the fact that there may be too many cooks in the kitchen in Green Bay.
The Panthers should absolutely make a call to the Packers to see if Doubs could be available, as he would almost certainly become the No. 1 receiver in Carolina’s aerial attack.
Is Doubs a No. 1-caliber guy? That remains to be seen, but he has thrived in a Packers offense that also includes wide outs Jayden Reed, Christian Watson and Dontayvion Wicks as well as tight end Tucker Kraft, so he may definitely be able to put up big numbers as the top guy.”
Romeo Doubs is 24 years old and was a fourth-round pick (132nd overall selection) in the 2022 NFL Draft from Nevada. This season with the Green Bay Packers, Doubs caught 46 passes for 601 yards receiving and four touchdowns, along with averaging 13.1 yards per catch. He also was targeted 72 times.
Christian Watson Might Miss All Of 2025
The Carolina Panthers could call the Green Bay Packers this offseason and see if Doubs is available for trade, but the truth is that Green Bay might keep him because Christian Watson could potentially miss the entire 2025 season due to a torn ACL.
If Green Bay does trade Romeo Doubs to Carolina and if Watson misses the entire season, then the Packers will have Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks as reliable wide receivers. They would have to draft someone in 2025 or potentially sign a free agent like Stefon Diggs or Tee Higgins. Romeo Doubs could be a name to watch this offseason not only for the Carolina Panthers but for other teams as well.
