Jrue Holiday may be with the rivals now but he still fondly remembers the good times he’s had with the Milwaukee Bucks, especially that run with Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2021.
Talking to Paul George in Podcast With P, the Boston Celtics guard was asked about his time with the Bucks and he has nothing but great words for his former team with whom he won his first title and earned him his second All-Star Game appearance.
He is specially excited talking about the Greek Freak: He said:
Giannis, you know. He’d do the Space Jam joint. What he does in the paint I feel like is unmatched. He does it with force. Every single game its like 150%. I’ve never seen him take a game off.
Remember when Giannis got hurt in that Atlanta [Hawks] series, Eastern Conference finals? So he was out for a week or whatever. But once we got to the finals, the practice before the finals, it was the first day he practiced with us. He’s going 150 miles per hour. . . off a bummed leg.
Holiday shared that they were to a point where they have to worry about their superstar again because of his hunger in practice.
“That’s the type of mentality and hunger Giannis has..”
The Bucks lost their first two games against the Phoenix Suns in that Finals round but went on to win the next four.
They sealed the championship and made the ‘Bucks in Six‘ tradition real thanks to Antetokounmpo’s 50 points game in the title-clinching game.
Jrue Holiday has moved on from Bucks trade
Holiday can say that he’s moved on to a better place now as he won his second title with the Celtics.
He has no issue with getting traded, too, despite his contribution to the Bucks’ first title in 50 years.
In fact, he believes it was a good trade by his former team.
“I’ve been traded before as an All-Star from Philly to New Orleans,” said Holiday.
“So it wasn’t like it was that much of a shock but I understood the business of it. On paper, that trade, adding Dame, 10 out of 10 people, who wouldn’t make that trade? That’s just how it goes, that’s how the business works and again, it’s still early in the season.”
