The Milwaukee Bucks are close to getting their All-Star forward, Khris Middleton, back from a knee injury. Middleton has been out for several weeks due to a lingering knee injury, however, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports he will return soon.
Bucks’ Middleton has dealt with a lingering injury
Khris Middleton made his return from wrist surgery on December 3rd. However, since his return something hasn’t been quite right. Middleton wasn’t nearly as efficient as he normally is, hitting 44.3% of his shots a season ago. In his seven games this season, Middleton has shot 32.5% from the field and averaged 11.1 points per game. His free throw attempts also dropped to 2.7 per game from 4.4 last year, indicating less of a willingness to take contact.

The way that Middleton was playing seemed off and he looked like he wasn’t confident. There hasn’t been much said about his injury or the status of his knee. However, Shams Charania indicates that Middleton has been struggling with irritation in his knee. Likely, Middleton has aggravated his knee and it began to swell, which resulted in his limited mobility on the court. The decision to shut it down until his knee had regained full motion was presumably Middleton’s idea, after trying to play through it.
There still hasn’t been a clear timetable put together for the long awaited return. Due to the condition his knee is in and the fact that it is day-to-day explains why the Bucks haven’t been able to commit to a return date. The Bucks are currently on a road trip until January 14th. On January 16th, the Bucks will return to action against the Pacers in Milwaukee. There is also a game the following day at home against the Raptors, which Middleton could play in.
Due to the lack of a timeline, it isn’t clear when Middleton will be back for the Bucks. Charania, however, has assured Bucks’ fans that Middleton will be back “…sooner rather than later.” A home game would be the ideal way for the forward to return to play. If he still isn’t ready for next week, the next home game would be on January 25th against Denver. Hopefully, Middleton is able to return to his normal, healthy self soon and rejoin the Bucks to hold down the Central Division.
