COVID-19 cases continue to climb across the country, and cases within the NFL are no exception. The Green Bay Packers placed G Ben Braden, LB Tipa Galeai, WR Amari Rodgers, and LB Ty Summers on the reserve/COVID-19 list. In addition, the team placed DL R.J. McIntosh on the practice squad reserve/COVID-19 list. Packers’ General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the moves Monday.
Players put on the list either tested positive for COVID-19 or are considered close contacts with an infected person. Organizations are only allowed to comment on a player’s roster status, not their medical status.
With today’s additions, the total number of players on the Packers’ reserve/COVID-19 list is 10.
Head Coach Matt LaFleur says the Packers have discussed ways to “mitigate the risk” of transmitting the virus within the organization. He emphasized masking in Lambeau Field and keeping people “as spread out as possible.” LaFleur added that he and his staff have “contemplated going to virtual meetings and just showing up when we want to get together to go out on the fields” in an effort to keep as many players healthy and available to play as possible.
