The Wisconsin Badgers are adding some serious blockers to their offense for the 2023 class. As it looks, Wisconsin will remain “Offensive Line University” for the foreseeable future. Late on December 20th, it was announced that Zack Mlsna will officially sign with the Wisconsin Badgers. This comes after Mlsna announced his commitment back on October 27th.

The Wisconsin Badgers have a long history of identifying and developing walk-ons from inside the state that eventually goes on to become key contributors at UW. Mlsna was a two-way player at the prep level and earned a walk-on opportunity with the Badgers in June. This came after a strong camp performance in Madison. At 6-foot-5 and pushing 300 pounds, he best projects to the offensive line, where he is one of the top linemen inside the state in the 2023 class. Given his size, guard or center would make the most sense for his future position.
To add to his accomplishments, Mlsna is up for the Joe Thomas Award. This award is given annually to the top offensive lineman in the state. He is a two-time Scenic Bluffs Conference Lineman of the Year and First-Team All-Conference selection. Mlsna also earned Honorable Mention All-State honors in 2021. He will likely be an All-State pick this season at the small-school level. Luke Fickell mentioned he wanted to focus on recruiting within 300 miles of Madison and really ramp up in-state recruiting. While this commitment came before Fickell arrived in town, this is exactly the type of signing you expect going forward for the Badgers program.
