The Wisconsin Badger Women’s volleyball team jumps up to #1 in the NCAA rankings following a hot start to the season. The Badgers Women’s volleyball team kicked off their season this weekend with the B1G/Big 12 challenge. The team beat both #15 Baylor and TCU in convincing fashion.
Wisconsin Badgers Volleyball beats the Baylor Bears 3-1
The Wisconsin Badgers Women’s volleyball team kicked off their season in Minnesota for the B1G and Big 12 challenge. This was the first live game action with the new members of the team. The badgers took the first two sets before dropping the third and then ended the match with a game four win. A lot of positive came from the match, including getting a look at Sarah Franklin after her scary medical condition that was discovered this summer.

Newcomers to the badgers volleyball team, Carter Booth and Temi Thomas-Ailara, started and provided plenty of eye-popping plays. These two are going to be a problem for opponents all season long.

Sarah Franklin looked like she didn’t miss a beat as she led the team in kills with 13. A true team defensive effort with both Caroline Crawford and Anna Smrek each blocking four attempts. Julia Orzol started at the libero position, something new for her and led the team with 11 digs.
On to TCU.
Wisconsin Badgers beat the TCU Horned Frogs 3-0
A clean sweep of the Horned Frogs had the Wisconsin Badgers women headed home starting the season 2-0. The dominant performances had the badgers move from the number two ranked team in the country to number one. The 2-0 start this weekend marks the ninth time that head coach Kelly Sheffield in his first 11 seasons.
Devyn Robinson led the offensive attack for the badgers generating 15 kills, almost doubling up the most by any TCU player. Defensively, Carter Booth anchored the team with seven blocks. Do-it-all player, Julia Orzol once again led the team in digs with 11.

Next Up for Badger Women’s Volleyball
The badger women’s volleyball team travels to Arkansas to take on the 21st ranked team in the country. While playing ranked opponents is always a fight, this fight will be extra tough. The badgers and razorbacks will be playing on back to back nights.
These games will take place Wednesday and Thursday, August 30th and 31st at 7pm. On Wednesday, you can catch the game on ESPNU and on Thursday, ESPN+.
