The past several seasons have been a whirlwind of ridiculousness from Jets quarterback, and former Packer, Aaron Rodgers.
Whether it was pushing conspiracy theories during the COVID-19 pandemic, or retelling stories of his usage of ayahuasca, Rodgers’ weekly media appearances have been must-see television for those looking to see the depths of insanity he’d be lowering himself to.
This week, though, Rodgers said something so ridiculous that it’s more difficult than ever to take him seriously.
This week, ahead of the Jets’ season finale and less than a week removed from being unceremoniously benched in the fourth quarter of a Week 17 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Rodgers made a bold proclamation about his time in New York that is difficult to believe.
“It’s been the best two years of my life,” Rodgers told reporters.
Keep in mind, Rodgers’ 2023 campaign ended after just four snaps when he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, and his 2024 season has been an underwhelming parade of mediocrity and chaos.
While Rodgers has passed for 3,623 yards with 24 touchdowns to 10 interceptions, the Jets have fired former head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas earlier this season and Rodgers has reached the dubious mark of being the most sacked quarterback in NFL history.
“That’s a perspective adjustment that happened at some point during the rehab process last year,” Rodgers expanded on his mindset. “Just the excitement of falling back in love with the game, getting to know these guys in here, getting to know the great men and women who work here, it’s been a lot of fun.”
Given Rodgers’ and the Jets’ struggles this season, there’s a very real possibility that he’s playing elsewhere next season, if he’s playing in the NFL, at all.
Now, one might recall, that Rodgers won a Super Bowl wearing a Packers uniform, which makes his comments about his brief stay in the Big Apple all the more difficult to believe.
