When the Packers started the season 4-8, most people thought the playoffs were a pipe dream. However, that dream could become a reality. With a win on Sunday, the Packers will get the last spot in the playoffs for the NFC. President of the Packers Mark Murphy had a Q&A session on the team’s official site and was asked who he credits for the Packers’ turnaround.
Packers President Mark Murphy Credits These People For Turnaround
The choice was easy for Murphy. “I think much of the credit must go to Matt LaFleur and his coaching staff,” Murphy said. He went on to talk about how the positive attitude and constant desire to improve is what led to the turnaround. He also praised GM Brian Gutekunst and Russ Ball for choosing players, like Christian Watson, who have made an impact in their rookie seasons. Mark Murphy did not leave out any players either. He praised Aaron Rodgers for his leadership.
Coaching Staff Deserves Credit
The coaching staff does deserve a lot of credit. They have come into the last five weeks with a great game plan and executed it well. The offense looks less lethargic. The defense is forcing more turnovers. Special teams are even getting into the action. Matt LaFleur has his faults but overall he has been able to create a winning culture that translates to high-level play on the field.
Packers president Mark Murphy has to be happy with the front office he has in place. While many teams are struggling to find competency, the Packers have stability. Regardless of what happens this season, Packers fans should feel great about the future of the organization.
