The city of Milwaukee loves a good underdog story. Historically, the population of the city is a blue-collar, working force people that grind every day for what they need. That is undoubtedly why Milwaukee Bucks sixth man Bobby Portis is so popular with fans. Portis is no stranger to having to work hard. In numerous interviews, he has detailed the sacrifices his mom made to help him become the player that he is today. Portis’ own determination and work ethic are now things of legend among Bucks fans. It was, therefore, incredibly sweet to see Portis reach an important career milestone at home in front of the fans that have dubbed him the “Mayor of Milwaukee” and Bobby POTUS.

Bobby Portis Made Three-Pointer Number 500 for His Career
Prior to coming to Milwaukee, Portis spent the first five seasons of his career with the Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards, and New York Knicks. During that time, he was a 36% three point shooter. That is certainly not a bad shooting percentage, but Portis (and the Bucks) wanted better. In two-plus seasons with the Bucks, Portis has improved his three-point shooting tremendously. During his time in Milwaukee, Portis has been a 41% three-point shooter. Last night, in the Bucks’ come from behind victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, Portis was 2-3 from beyond the arc. The second three-pointer he made was the 500th he made for his career.

As mentioned previously, Portis played for three teams in the first five seasons in the NBA. During that time frame, he made 270 three pointers. In just over two seasons with the Bucks, Portis has made 230.
Always trying to get better, Portis is averaging a double-double this season, even though he is primarily coming off of the bench. His 10.5 rebounds per game are a career-high.
The nice thing, for Portis, the Bucks, and their fans, is that since he has inked a four-year contract, the best of Bobby Portis will continue to develop in Milwaukee.
