The Green Bay Packers are still making moves on the roster. Whether it is adding players to the practice squad or giving players an opportunity with another NFL team.
The Packers seem to have a rather heavy set of Linebackers with the likes of Rashan Gary, Preston Smith, De’vondre Campbell, Quay Walker, Kingsley Enagbare, Krys Barnes, Jonathan Garvin, and Tipa Galeai to name a few. As time goes forward people will be looking to see who has a breakout season for Green Bay.
Former Packers LB Ty Summers
Ty Summers was released from the Packers on Sunday before the roster cuts took place. Head Coach Matt Lafleur told the media that releasing Summers was the only new roster move made.
Matt LaFleur says cutting Ty Summers was the only new roster move so far. Says team wanted to give Summers a jump to find a new team before next wave of cuts. Summers had been core special teamer the last three seasons since Packers drafted him in 2019 seventh round.

Ty Summers was picked 226th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Packers. Summers played for three seasons with the Green Bay Packers. In his three years he played in 46 games, making 31 tackles, (23 solo). He was very valuable as a special team’s player. Playing over 75% of his snaps in the last two seasons. Ty Summers has played 908 snaps in his career so far. In 2020, he led the team with 12 tackles on special teams.
With the additions of the new young rookie linebackers, it does give Ty Summers a good opportunity. Even though his time with the Packers was a short, he will be a good asset and fit for the Jacksonville Jaguars special team’s unit.
The #Jaguars claimed LB Ty Summers off waivers from the #Packers, per source.
Jacksonville has top priority and is using it.

Now it is a time to see if the veterans will keep their consistency or if one of the young rookies will shine in the 2022 NFL season. Matt Lafleur is doing exactly what he wants, giving the three-year linebacker a fresh start!
