Doc Rivers appears to be on the brink of securing his next head coaching job in the NBA. This is after reports emerged that he is a prime candidate to take on the role as the Milwaukee Bucks head coach after rookie shot-caller Adrian Griffin was dismissed from this same post on Tuesday.
NBA guru Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, however, has pulled the brakes on reports suggesting that the Bucks are on the verge of announcing Rivers as their new head coach.
Conflicting Reports on Milwaukee Bucks’ Discussions With Doc Rivers
Multiple reports have already confirmed that Rivers is currently the frontrunner to be Milwaukee’s next head honcho. Even Woj himself reported that Rivers “near the top of the list” in terms of the Bucks’ candidates for their next head coach.
The Bucks are planning to quickly pursue a small pool of accomplished and available veteran head coaches — with Doc Rivers near the top of the list, sources tell ESPN. https://t.co/1a5y77Dcvd

Shams Charania, Sam Amick, and Eric Nehm of The Athletic then took the report a notch higher by stating that the Bucks “have started discussions with Rivers to become the new head coach of the franchise.” Apparently, the front office is not wasting any time in bringing in their new coach.
Woj, however, provided a conflicting report. According to the renowned NBA insider, the Bucks have not actually started negotiations with Rivers:
ESPN Sources: Doc Rivers is a top Milwaukee target to replace Adrian Griffin but the sides have yet to talk. Bucks are expected to reach out and gauge his interest soon.

Woj did say in his report, however, that the Bucks intend to “reach out” to Rivers in the immediate future. Although, He made it clear that negotiations have not yet begun between the two sides.
Regardless of this perceived delay, however, it still appears that the Bucks job is currently for Rivers’ to lose.
