The #11 Wisconsin Badgers were eyeing a possible one seed in the NCAA Tournament two weeks ago and now they are struggling to win a basketball game. Wisconson has lost four consecutive basketball games after losing on Saturday on the road to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights by a final score of 78-56.
Only two players for the Badgers scored in double figures on the road on Saturday afternoon against the Scarlet Knights. Connoe Essegian led the way for Wisconsin with 15 points. AJ Storr also added 14 points for the Wisconsin Badgers.
A lot of fans are not happy with head coach Greg Gard over this four-game losing streak, especially to teams who have no shot of making the NCAA Tournament in the BIG10 Conference. Wisconsin now has a 16-8 overall record and an 8-5 BIG10 Conference record. The Badgers will need to get out of their funk against the Ohio State Buckeyes (14-10, 4-9) on Tuesday night.
The #11 Wisconsin Badgers For Now Would Be a 3 Seed in the NCAA Tournament But That Is More Than Likely To Change
According to ESPN.com’s Joe Lunardi, the Badgers are currently projected to be a three-seed in the NCAA Tournament. They would be in the West Region (Los Angeles, California). Wisconsin has become a very vulnerable basketball team and they would be picked as a potential upset in a lot of brackets right now.
The team that they would face in the first round of the NCAA Tournament would be the High Point Panthers out of the Big South Conference. In order for Wisconsin to avoid a potential first-round upset, they need to make their offense Max Klesmit dependent. They need him to be scoring in the high teens and low 20s on a game-to-game basis moving forward.
Chucky Hepburn and Tyler Wahl are two other players for the Badgers who need to score the basketball. Wisconsin also needs to be more committed to rebounding the basketball and playing defense. The Wisconsin Badgers will probably drop to a four-seed or a five-seed in the next Bracketlogoy analysis.
In this region, the Arizona Wildcats out of the Pac-12 Conference would be the number one seed also. If Wisconsin did defeat High Point, they would face the 11 Ole Miss Rebels out of the SEC Conference or the 6 BYU Cougars out of the BIG 12 Conference. The Badgers have the talent to at least make the Sweet 16 this season, but they also have a chance to go one-and-done if they don’t get their act together in a hurry.
