About Ratzlaff
Jake Ratzlaff has one of the most interesting stories in the 2021 class. Ratzlaff, a native of Rosemount MN, was a very good hockey prospect. He even declared for the 2020 NHL draft, but was not drafted. Ratzlaff was committed to play hockey at Minnesota since the seventh grade. After not hearing his name called, he decided college football would be his next sport.
Ratzlaff previously held football offers from Minnesota, Iowa, and Iowa State. He also made it to Wisconisn as a hockey recruit. As a result, he was already familiar with the campus and the atmosphere.
During his shortened senior season due to COVID, Ratzlaff recorded 70 tackles, three sacks, 3 interceptions, and scored two defensive touchdowns in six games. Raztlaff is 6’2 and 220 pounds.
What This Means For The 2021 Class
The 2021 class remains the 16th best class in the country, according to 247 sports. Ratzlaff joins an already loaded 2021 linebacker class at Wisconsin. He joins the likes of TJ Bollers, Ayo Adebogun, and Darryl Peterson as the fourth outside linebacker in this class.
Since Wisconsin is becoming “Linebacker-U”, adding depth and talent Retzlaff possess only makes this class even more dangerous. The 2021 class is full of talent for Wisconsin and it sure looks like they just got another player with a ton of upside and potential.
