The state of Wisconsin has produced a number of future Wisconsin football team members, but one such athlete is still working towards that goal.
Josiah Johnson, a talented running back in the 2025 recruiting class, has gone under-the-radar in the talent rich state. Arguably the top remaining 2025 recruit in the state of Wisconsin, Johnson is still looking for a collegiate home as he keeps his division one dreams alive this season. During a recent interview with Wisconsin Sports Heroics, Johnson broke down what is going to lead himself to success at the next level.
Talented Wisconsin Football Hopeful Josiah Johnson Prepared to Make ‘Sacrifices’
Perhaps the most difficult thing for the Wisconsin football staff and any collegiate football staff to do is evaluate talent. There are only so many eyes that can be focused on film or the play of a recruit at one time. Often, plenty recruits slip through the cracks and do not necessarily receive the attention that they have earned.
For Josiah Johnson, that has been just the case as the running back continues to challenge for the top running back spot in the state. The Wisconsin native grew up watching the Wisconsin Badgers and has long waited for the chance to play at the highest level of football. Johnson, a 2025 recruit, is just a season away from reaching his goals as college football looms in his future.
Johnson stated the recruiting process has been “solid so far, honestly” with some big schools such as the Iowa State Cyclones and the Wisconsin Badgers reaching out. Thus far, Johnson stated Iowa State, South Dakota University, and Concordia St. Paul have been the three most active programs. The running back has also kept a close relationship with the North Dakota University staff throughout his recruitment.
When asked about what the recruit is looking for in college, Johnson stated, “I’m looking for a program with a great coaching staff and a strong team culture.” The running back also added, “Having a coaching staff that cares about you on and off the field along with a great brotherhood.” Johnson also stated he would like to attend a school that prioritizes his development and success beyond the football field.
Can the Wisconsin Native Johnson Conquer His Own Dreams?
Every year, thousands of high school athletes hang the cleats or the shoes up and call their sports careers quits. Whether it be because they did not receive an opportunity to continue playing or another factor, there are a number of individuals who end their dreams. For Johnson, however, the end is nowhere near close if the running back has any say about the situation.
Unlike most recruits who commit and take their foot off the gas, Johnson has remained eager to create opportunities for himself on the field. The running back has displayed his excellent talent on the field night in and night out without pulling his foot off the gas pedal. The running back takes the idea of having a ‘high motor’ to the next level with his determination on and off the field.
The running back is prepared to make sacrifices and work as hard as he has to in order to reach the goals he set for himself as a child. While making it to the highest level of collegiate football is the first goal, Johnson also has his sights set on accomplishments in the classroom. The running back noted that he has spent extra time to develop his GPA and his success in school.
When it is all said and done, Johnson hopes he can become an entrepreneur in the sports world if he cannot become a ‘sports leader’. The running back wants to mentor younger athletes and ensure that they reach their playing dreams much like Johnson wants to reach his own.
