Wisconsin football continues to tread water as they attempt to return to their mid-2010s glory. Since former Cincinnati Bearcats frontman Luke Fickell filled the head coaching vacancy in 2023, Wisconsin has gone 12-13, most notably struggling mightily on the offensive side of the football. This season, amid their worst since 2001, the Wisconsin Badgers parted ways with offensive coordinator Phil Longo after ten games. Following last weekend’s season finale, Wisconsin continues to undergo changes in its program.
On Tuesday, wide receiver Cameron Miller became the latest casualty of Wisconsin football’s poor season, decommitting from the program. Early reports indicate that Miller, a three-star pass-catcher, will partially re-open his recruiting because of Longo’s dismissal.
Cameron Miller Decommits After Phil Longo Firing
According to Dillon Graff of @AthlonSports and @B5Q:
2025 WR Cameron Miller has de-committed from Wisconsin’s class and is now expected to sign with Kentucky. Phil Longo getting fired as offensive coordinator was a factor.
One of two receivers set to join the Wisconsin football program in the class of 2025, Cameron Miller announced his intent to de-commit from the Badgers on Monday. A three-star prospect, Miller had 38 receptions, 655 yards, and 12 touchdowns as a receiver for Winslow Township High School in Atco, New Jersey. They went 13-0. Miller also had 25 tackles, two interceptions, and 12 punt returns for 224 yards and two touchdowns.
Per sources, including Dillon Graff of Athlon Sports, the firing of Wisconsin offensive coordinator Phil Longo late this season played a role in Miller’s decommitment. Wisconsin scored 22.6 points per game this season, the 108th mark in the FBS. Starting quarterback Braedyn Locke threw just 13 touchdowns against ten picks. The year prior, the first with Longo having offensive play-calling duties, Wisconsin scored 23.5 points per game while throwing just 14 touchdown passes in 13 games. Nevertheless, Longo’s firing, albeit understandable, played a part in Miller’s eventual decommitment.
Cameron Miller Eyeing SEC School
Per 247Sports, Cameron Miller has picked up a Crystal Ball prediction for the Kentucky Wildcats. Miller made two unofficial visits to Kentucky earlier this season before committing to Wisconsin football and eventually made an official visit to Madison, Wisconsin. The five-foot-eleven, 160-pound wideout also holds offers from Boston College, Duke, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio State, and Oregon, among others.
Following Miller’s decommitment, Eugene Hilton Jr. is the lone true wide receiver remaining in the 2025 class for the Wisconsin Badgers. Also a three-star, Hilton is the son of former Indianapolis Colts standout T.Y. Hilton, a four-time NFL Pro-Bowler.
