A day after the Wisconsin football team fell at home to the Minnesota Golden Gophers, the Big Ten witnessed an all-time upset, with the Michigan Wolverines upsetting the Ohio State Buckeyes as a three-touchdown underdog. Entering with a lackluster offense and the absence of superstar defensive back Will Johnson, Michigan pulled off a remarkable 13-10 victory, with Ohio State quarterback Will Howard’s final pass falling incomplete.
In the wake of Ohio State’s historic loss, one prominent Wisconsin football account went to social media, suggesting OSU head coach Ryan Day could leave, potentially unwillingly, the Buckeyes and join the Wisconsin Badgers. Wisconsin is 12-13 under current head coach Luke Fickell, the worst winning percentage for a UW frontman since Don Morton in the late 1980s.
Barstool Wisconsin Eyes Ryan Day As Luke Fickell’s Replacement
According to Badger Barstool on Twitter:
Get ready to learn Badger buddy @ryandaytime
It is safe to say Wisconsin football fans are not enjoying their time under head coach Luke Fickell. Since leaving the Cincinnati Bearcats head coaching job in 2023 for the Wisconsin Badgers vacancy, the Big Ten program is a lackluster 12-13. Before Fickell, Wisconsin won at least eight games 18 times since 2000. This year, their 5-7 record marks their lowest win total since 2001 under Barry Alvarez (sans 2020 COVID season).
Fellow Big Ten program Ohio State also ended their regular season in disappointment (at a different level than Wisconsin). Their fans are also calling for the firing of head coach Ryan Day. Routinely struggling against top-tier competition and rival Michigan, the OSU faithful have grown tired of Day continuing to underwhelm with a loaded roster. Badger Barstool believes that if the Buckeyes part with Day, then the Badgers could make a move on the bench boss. Nevertheless, Wisconsin football fans remain divided on the idea, with the Fickell era marred with mainly underwhelming results:
Ryan day… somehow the best solution we can come up with for a lack of physicality

Fickell and day at Wisconsin. We’d definitely win a championship within 2 years

I’m gonna be honest, idk much about Day’s past, but could he be a good offensive coordinator? Asking for a friend of course

He can't win the big games but that's ok because there won't be any BIG games at Wisconsin.

Zona State Sun Devils new coach 2023 season they go 3-8. 2nd year they are 10-2 possibly in the 12 team playoffs. Why didn't Wisconsin hire that guy?

Wisconsin Football Suffers Regular Season Final Loss
For the first time since 2001, Wisconsin football will not go bowling. On Friday, with Wisconsin fighting for their bowl eligibility lives, the Badgers hosted the 6-5 Minnesota Golden Gophers as a short one-point underdog. Wisconsin struggled mightily on offense, not finding the endzone until late in the third quarter via a touchdown pass from Braedyn Locke to wide receiver Vinny Anthony. The Badgers did not score again, finishing the contest with a paltry 166 yards.
Defensively, Wisconsin football coughed up 374 yards of offense, with Minnesota scoring 24 points on the road for the first time since late September.
