Wisconsin football did not have a season to remember in 2024. In their second full year under the guidance of head coach Luke Fickell, the Wisconsin Badgers went 5-7, marking their worst winning percentage since 2001. More notably, Wisconsin will not be bowl-eligible this year, breaking a streak of 23 straight postseason appearances. The Big Ten team will likely be hit with a wave of transfers after the Badgers season unceremoniously ended on Saturday.
On Saturday, just two days after losing against the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the regular season finale, linebacker Leon Lowery Jr. entered the transfer portal. Shortly after Lowery’s public intent to transfer, cornerback Amare Snowden also jumped into the portal. A former signee of Luke Fickell with the Cincinnati Bearcats, Snowden will become the fourth Badger from Fickell’s Cincinnati-based recruit class to transfer.
Wisconsin Badgers CB Amare Snowden Enters Transfer Portal
According to Allen Trieu @247Sports:
Wisconsin cornerback Amare Snowden intends to enter the transfer portal.
Roseville (Mich.) native says he’s open to any school and part of the country:
On the heels of fellow defender Leon Lowery Jr. entering the transfer portal, cornerback Amare Snowden also issues a statement on social media announcing his departure from Wisconsin football. Snowden wrote via Twitter, “After Deep Consideration And Talking With My Family And Try To Regain My Confidence Back, I Have Made The Decision To Enter The Transfer Portal As A Redshirt Sophomore With Three Years Of Eligibility Left.”
This season, Snowden fell on the depth chart, making just two in-game appearances and recording one tackle. A six-foot-four corner, Snowden originally committed to Cincinnati before following head coach Luke Fickell to Wisconsin. Snowden is also a baseball player known for his ability to pitch from the left side. Snowden was not on the two-deep depth chart for Wisconsin’s regular-season finale against Minnesota. He was a four-star recruit in the class of 2023.
Wisconsin Football Eyeing Big Recruiting Class
Wisconsin football will usher in the 21st-ranked recruiting class this summer, per 247Sports. Despite signing zero five-stars, the Wisconsin Badgers inked eight four-stars and 17 three-stars, suitable for the fifth-best recruiting class in the Big Ten. With the loss of cornerback Amare Snowden to the transfer portal, Wisconsin will add two three-star corners to the upcoming recruiting class. Meanwhile, starting corners Austin Brown and Richardo Hallman just finished their junior seasons.
