Wisconsin football is unlikely to get a bowl invite after failing to win at least six games in the 2024 college football season. However, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to celebrate for the team.
Just take for example quarterback Braedyn Locke, who just celebrated his 20th birthday on Sunday. Wisconsin Badgers head coach Luke Fickell even greeted the signal-caller with a short but meaningful post on X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter).

Locke had an inconsistent 2024 season — his second with the Badgers. In 11 games, Locke passed for 1,936 yards and 13 touchdowns against 10 interceptions while completing just 55.4 percent of his throws.
But he also had his moments in the season, including a three-touchdown performance, albeit in a 44-25 loss at the hands of the Nebraska Cornhuskers on the road on Nov. 23. He also had three touchdowns in a 52-6 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers at home way back in early October.
Braedyn Locke staying with Wisconsin football amid transfer portal rumors
There were rumors that he would leave Wisconsin football via transfer portal following the season-ending loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers, but Locke was quick to shut those down.
“I’ve got a lot of pride in this program,” Locke said, per Jesse Temple of The Athletic. “I love being a Badger. This place has been so special to me. I’ve got a heart for every single guy in that locker room. I love them to death. I’d do anything for them. I lay it on the line for our program every day. And I say that without a doubt at all. So, yeah, I love being here. I want to be here. It’s been an absolute pleasure to take the field nine Saturdays this fall. Something I’ll never forget. Regardless of the outcome, it’s been very, very special for me and I want to continue to do that.”
