The Badgers (8-2, 1-1) were in for a test in their second conference game of the year as they were on the road versus No. 21 ranked Ohio State (8-2, 2-0).
Wisconsin was coming off a six game win streak after previously taking down two valid teams, Indiana and Marquette. Unfortunately, their rhythm ran out Saturday, as the Badgers lost to the Buckeyes in a not so close contest, 73-55.
Sophomore guard Johnny Davis led all Badger scores with 24 points, along with seven rebounds and three assists.
Thoughts About The Game
There was no stopping the Buckeyes offense Saturday, as Wisconsin let them shoot 50 percent from the field. Ohio State also collected six three point shots throughout the game.
The problem seemed to stem from the offense, as 55 points was a season low for the Badgers. Only shooting 33.8 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from beyond the arc, it was getting frustrating for them as nothing seemed to want to fall.
Rebounding was a big issue for Wisconsin, as Ohio State outrebounded them 49 to 28. Forwards Steven Crowl, Tyler Wahl and center Chris Vogt all combined for just five rebounds throughout the contest.
Davis noted this issue to the media post game as he criticized his teammates.
“I don’t think our big men really came to play today and battle with those guys.” Davis continued, “It’s not discouraging at all. These guys had a bad game today, but we’re gonna need them going forward.”
Other scoring contributors during the game was senior guard Brad Davidson, who scored 13 points and went 3/6 from the three point line.
Wisconsin will have a chance to bounce back Wednesday, Dec. 15th, as they will compete against Nicholls at home in the Kohl Center. Tipoff is set for 7pm CT.
