The Wisconsin basketball staff has already begun scouting the 2027 recruiting class and come across plenty of talented individuals.
Among the players the Wisconsin basketball staff has scouted is in-state Iola-Scandinavia forward Alex Robbins. Robbins impressed this past season and made quite the impression upon collegiate coaches during his first year of high school play. During a recent interview with Wisconsin Sports Heroics, Robbins broke down his recruitment and spoke about what he feels has led to his recruitment.
Wisconsin Basketball Scouting 2027 Iola-Scandinavia Forward Alex Robbins
The Wisconsin basketball staff has begun to work on the 2027 recruiting class after extending a scholarship offer recently and attending various games. One such player the Wisconsin staff has watched the games of and began scouting is Iola-Scandinavia small forward Alex Robbins.
Robbins is a successful forward who averaged double-digits this season during his first year of high school play. The forward has already begun to draw interest from various collegiate programs after dazzling this past season, but has not hauled in an offer just yet.
When asked about the recruitment process, Robbins stated that UNI, Indiana State, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, St. Louis, and Youngstown State have all been watching his film. Robbins believes that his potential on the court has led to the interest he is beginning to receive.
The forward is a vocal leader who can score at every level and Robbins stated, “Me being able to score sets my teammates up and allows them to make plays.” On the defensive side of the ball, Robbins works just as hard and consistently communicates with his teammates when on defense.
Alex Robbins: “I Want it to be a Brotherhood Where Everyone Trusts Each other and Plays Together.”
While it might be early in his collegiate recruitment, Robbins already has a good idea of what he is looking for out of his future home. When asked about possible recruiting factors he has considered, Robbins stated, “I have a few different things I am looking for when it comes to colleges. I want it to be a brotherhood where everyone trusts each other and plays together.”
The recruit also added, “Also winning because it shows how good they can play as a team.” The forward believes that a cohesive, winning culture is something that he needs to be around at the collegiate level to fully develop himself and his game.
The forward was also critical of the coach he eventually will play under, as he feels he needs someone that can get the best out of him while still being able to joke around.
Can the Wisconsin Badgers Basketball Staff Land Robbins in the Future?
An eventual commitment from Robbins to stay in-state and play for the Wisconsin basketball program is not out of the question. When asked about what Robbins is looking for when choosing a college, the forward stated both a brotherhood and a winning culture are necessary to him. Along with those two factors, Robbins also stated “Last is really just coaches that I can bond with.”
Robbins wants to be challenged and placed out of his comfort zone while being able to unwind and laugh with his coaches when needed. Every player loves to get better, but many players also understand that there needs to be a time to let loose.
The Wisconsin basketball program can certainly offer Robbins what he is looking for, but the process is still fairly new to the forward. Many programs, including Wisconsin, are only in the early stages of recruiting the forward and thus it will take time before he makes his eventual commitment.
