The Wisconsin Badgers volleyball program recently landed the top ranked libero in the 2025 class, Aniya Warren.  After prior decommitments from Indiana and Purdue, Warren has indicated that Madison is her final destination.  Here, we take a look at what ultimately led her to this decision.

Why did Aniya Warren decommit from Indiana and Purdue?

Aniay Warren, who is ranked as the top libero recruit of the 2025 class by Prepdig, previously withdrew commitments to Indiana and Purdue.  In a recent article written by Dennis Punzel at BadgerExtra (subscription required), Warren said that over time changes within the programs caused her to reconsider her choice.  Indiana underwent changes to their coaching staff whereas Purdue saw four key players depart via the transfer portal.

Decommiting was tough on Aniya Warren

Aniya Warren said she got a bitter feeling when decommitting from Indiana and that it was tough to tell the players that she had built bonds and relationships with. With Purdue, Warren said she didn’t want to go through the process again, but an agreement was reached to release her because after all the transfers the team in place isn’t what she originally committed to.

What led Aniya Warren to choose Wisconsin Badgers volleyball?

After Gluce Guctekin and Saige Damrow entered the transfer portal, the once crowded Badgers backcourt suddenly had openings that led Aniya Warren to choose Wisconsin volleyball.  She also wants to surround her self with elite talent and play at the highest level.   Warren said, “I want to compete at the highest level with competitive people around me, get better, and grow.  I think it’s exciting for us to have a backcourt that will be really deep and have so much talent.”
