NFL star DK Metcalf of the Pittsburgh Steelers have been receiving comments that he could play in the NBA one day after a few of his hoops highlights went viral but for Wisconsin Badgers legend Sam Dekker, that talk is all but exaggeration.

The 6’4 wide receiver has a new basketball highlight reel going around the internet with him making thunderous dunks, including a rock-a-bye baby dunk ala-Michael Jordan.
Metcalkf is no stranger to basketball-related spotlight. He’s had some of the clips of his pick up games go viral. He was also the Most Valuable Player at the2023 Ruffles Celebrity Game during the All-Star Weekend.
While he can pull off fancy dunks, Dekker bursted the bubble of the NFL star’s admirers.
“Dunking in Men’s League pick-up is not equal to “playing in the NBA,” he wrote in his X while quoting a post of a user who claimed that Metcalf can be a legit NBA player.

Most users agree with him.
“With that NBA all star game level of defense, apparently I could play in the NBA too!” said one user.
“You’re right, he needs to stick to football anyways, he dunked the ball versus shoot a 3 with 12 seconds still on the shot clock and not play any defense. NBA blows,” said another.
Dekker is playing in Europe at the moment but is reportedly working his way back to the NBA.

Dekker has been a journeyman since with his latest team being the Joventut Badalona who he joined late for the 2024-2025 season.
Although the Spanish club did not reach the playoffs, his impact on the team was undeniable that the team extended his contract.
