Wisconsin Badgers basketball has seen some of their players leave to look for other teams to play for in the past years or daresay since it the rules were relaxed regarding transfer. Jack Janicki vows to not join them.

The third year guard joined the team in 2023 as a walk-on player and has now carved his role on Greg Gard’s rotation. He played 37 games last season and broke into double digit scoring (11 points) in win against Purdue Boilermakers on February 14.
Gard sees him as an impact player in the season to come. He even compared him to former Badgers like Nigel Williams-Goss and Zak Showalter.

“We have so many of those guys over the years. Goss or Showalter that done things and impact winning that are really, really important,” Gard said during Thursday practice.
“Jack’s another one of those guys who has those type of traits, just understands what it takes to win.”
Jack Janicki on loyalty to Wisconsin Badgers
He persevered to become part of the team and he would not let that go to waste despite the attractiveness of the transfer portal.
“College sports is sort of a moving chairs right now,” he said after practice in a clip posted by by Badger 247’s Evan Flood.
“I came here as a walk on and I sort of always try to be loyal to a place I’m loved and I love it here.”

He managed to earn a spot and now, he is elevating. In the same interview, he said that his main improvement is in his leadership.
“My biggest improvement, honestly, is as a vocal leader for this team,” he said.
“I think naturally, that my game progresses. I’ve been working with my shooting a lot and I think that for me would open up my game. But being able to consistently lead, consistently give that energy.”
