The Wisconsin Badgers are getting prepared for the 2024-2025 college basketball season. One of the players that is intriguing to head coach Greg Gard and the entire fanbase is freshman point guard Daniel Freitag.
Some think that Freitag could be the starting point guard when the games begin for the Badgers. He could be making an impact as a freshman in the BIG10 Conference this season.
Wisconsin Badgers Head Coach Greg Gard Makes Announcement About Daniel Freitag Entering the 2024-2025 College Basketball Season
Many are wondering if Daniel Freitag is going to be the starting point guard this season for the Badgers as a freshman or if he will be coming off the bench for them. Greg Gard has been watching him closely in practice. Gard said to Evan Flood of 247sports about the freshman before the start of the 2024-2025 season:
“He has some things, that physically, you can’t teach.”
This is an interesting quote from the head coach. It is good to see that Freitag could be ready to go in the starting lineup as a freshman, considering the fact they lost some key players from last season’s roster.
Freitag Bio
On the Wisconsin Badgers website, some of the bios of Freitag are as follows:
“Daniel Freitag (pronounced FREE-tag) is a four-star prospect from Bloomington, Minnesota, ranked as the ninth-best point guard in the nation for the 2024 class, according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-3 guard is UW’s highest-ranked point guard prospect in school history. Freitag averaged 28.8 points, 9.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game as a junior at Jefferson High School. He was named the Metro West Conference Player of the Year, while earning all-conference honors. He became Jefferson’s all-time leading scorer in just three years.”
It will be interesting to see what kind of scoring he will bring to the Badgers this season. A.J. Storr was one of the top scorers on Wisconsin’s roster last season. If Freitag can be one of the five starters for this program as a freshman, he has the potential to make an impact right away at the college basketball level.
