Former Wisconsin Badgers safety Matt Jung was this year’s winner of the 2024 Cliff Harris Award for the NCAA Division III. He was D3 First Team All American.
Jung entered the portal with two years of eligibility remaining on Dec. 17, 2024. He also had offers from Iowa State, Washington State, and five more FBS programs.
Jung’s achievements at Bethel University
Jung was named a semifinalist for the Gagliardi Trophy which is awarded to the most valuable player in DIII Football. Jung was one of only four defensive players named as a semifinalist.
He was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year by the MIAC. Jung led the country in interceptions and became the first Bethel player ever to be awarded this honor.
Jung committed to Wisconsin
Bethel University transfer announced his commitment to the Badgers on Dec. 19, 2024. Jung had 181 tackles, 15 tackles for losses, 3.5 sacks, 19 pass break ups, and 16 interceptions for Bethel over the past two seasons.
He played basketball and football for the Neenah Rockets. He also has a brother named Sam Jung who plays football at NDSU.
